TSER FDG Saves Operator Significant Degreasing Schedule and Mechanical Cleaning Requirement Using Chemical Circulation/Gamma Jetting

Challenge

Operator identified high levels of hydrocarbon tank bottoms and wall accumulation sludge in a Skim Tank which required removal for inspection. A major cleaning solutions provider contacted Evergreen Solutions to help identify the appropriate chemistry to assist in the removal of sludge. The schedule required a reduction in historical cleaning times as well as minimizing HSE exposure and high-pressure mechanical cleaning times.

Solution

Operator provided a core sample. After analysis, TSER FDG was recommended as a water-soluble degreaser capable of dissolving hydrocarbon solids in circulation and gamma jetting with water to suspend and remove sludge. Evergreen Solutions was quickly able to screen multiple chemical options at various temperatures and concentration to recommend TSER FDG as a balanced schedule, cost and HSE solution.

Results

TASER FDG resulted in a reduction of the historical cleaning schedule by 42% and the elimination of high-pressure mechanical cleaning in preparation for API inspection.
